Land Acknowledgement

We stand with profound respect and humility on the traditional and unceded territories of the K’ómoks First Nation in the area presently referred to as the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. As uninvited guests, we acknowledge the enduring sovereignty of the K’ómoks First Nation over these lands and waters, a sovereignty that has been exercised since time immemorial by the Sathloot, Sasitla, Ieeksen (eye-‘ick-sun), and Pentlach peoples whose stewardship and deep connection to these lands continue to this day.

We express our deepest gratitude for the privilege to live, work, and play in these territories. We recognize the impacts of our presence and affirm our commitment to mindful actions that honour the sovereignty, rights, and environmental stewardship of the K’ómoks First Nation. We pledge to engage in ongoing learning, respectful partnerships, and concrete actions that support the flourishing of these lands and its original caretakers.

We are committed to the journey of understanding, respect, and support for the Indigenous peoples' efforts to protect and nurture this land, as they have for generations. In doing so, we strive to contribute positively to the legacy of stewardship that defines the essence of this place and its people.
